Grant Thornton launches Open Innovative PMI Golf Race

The event, taking place at the Argentario Golf Club, is dedicated to Open Innovative PMI Award, the first national award dedicated to innovative SMEs. Registrations to the Open Innovative PMI Award are open until 7 October.

Milan, 2 October 2020 – The first edition of the Open innovative PMI Golf Race will take place on 4 October at Argentario Golf Club. The golf tournament and the event – ending with the prize-giving – are organized by Grant Thornton to promote one of the most important sectors of the Italian economy.

The race, in fact, represents an important event to support the Open Innovative PMI Award”* conceived by Grant Thornton and now at its fourth edition, which will culminate with the prize-giving ceremony in Rome on 11 November. Registrations to the Open Innovative PMI Award have been extended to 7 October.

*Open Innovative PMI Award is the first Italian award exclusively dedicated to innovative SMEs. It was conceived by Grant Thornton – Italian member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd, global network providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services with more than 56,000 professionals in about 140 countries – is part of the broader and multidisciplinary Open Innovative PMI project, aimed at promoting the best Italian innovation and giving greater visibility to innovative SMEs as a specific business type.

The project aims to promote a culture of innovation and therefore addresses also large companies, investors and, in general, to the whole Italian innovation system, which it aims to be a meeting point for. To do this, Open Innovative PMI relies on a dedicated web platform (www.openinnovativepmi.it) and is divided into six different and related sections: Award, Conference, Observatory, Academy, Incubator, and News.

All SMEs registered with the proper innovative SMEs section of the Companies’ Register at the Chamber of Commerce, as well as those that are going to register, can register to the Award, provided that the latter meet, at 20 October 2020, the requirements under the law to obtain the status as innovative SME.

There are three categories for this (fourth) edition of the Award:

  • “Research, innovation, and digital” – this category admits all innovative SMEs whose economic and/or operating component depends prevailingly on Research & Development activities or on technology applications;
  • “Covid-19 resilience” – dedicated exclusively to innovative SMEs that were able to deal wit the Covid-19 emergency by adjusting their organization and, in case, changing it in order to safeguard people’s health, strengthen production capacity, and manage business finance;
  • Environmental sustainability – dedicated to innovative SMEs that adopted a sustainable development, able to exploit the existing relationship between the organization and its surrounding environment (by using renewable energy sources, improving indoor climate, increasing employees’ well-being and promoting safe and reliable working methods and conditions).

Registrations will be examined by an independent jury, made up of exponents of the Italian academic world and busines community, which will identify and elect finalist companies. The winners of each category will receive services from Grant Thornton for a value of 10,000 Euros, to be used within one year.

Registrations must be made on the website at https://www.openinnovativepmi.it/premio/ by filling in the relevant online form by 7 October 2020. The prize-giving ceremony will take place on 11 November 2020 at the headquarters of the Italian National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche - CNR) in Rome.
