Alessandro analysed the reasons underlying the gap between the number of innovative SMEs in Northern Italy and those in Southern Italy.

In fact, out of total 648 small and medium enterprises registered with the proper Italian Chamber of Commerce register, 168 of these are located in Lombardy, while only 58 in Lazio.

These data can be due to the fact that companies in Northern Italy are more familiar with relevant regulations compared to those in Southern Italy.

Being a small innovative firm, in fact, does not necessarily mean operating in the technological industry, but, more simply, investing in innovation and in the growth of the company. Through a correct structuring and the right investment, any company can have the right to be registered with this proper roll, thus obtaining tax incentives for managers, executives and staff, as well as for investors (such as the possibility to deduct the cost of the investment carried out).

Therefore, it is advisable to get more information to better understand the available opportunities.
